I am so sorry for your loss.  Words seem inadequate when I’d rather reach out and hug you, and say nothing.  I invite you to lean into my faith as you search for hope for your next steps towards healing.

{Thank you for taking an initial step here with us.  When you are ready, maybe you will tell us your story too.}

I must begin my letter by saying from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry for your loss.  Words seem inadequate when I’d rather reach out and hug you and say nothing.  So please accept my “word hug” and know you are not alone.  I invite you to lean into my faith as you search for hope for your next steps towards healing.

I suspect you’re wandering around my website looking for something, maybe you don’t even know exactly for what: you just know your heart is longing.  It is my desire to give you a few ideas that may point you down a path as you ask the question, “Where do I start in the journey of honoring my child?”

If you haven’t selected a name yet, I’d like to encourage you to do so.  “Naming” is a profound way to give identity to a child you have lost.  In Isaiah 45:4, God tells us, “I summon you by name and bestow on you a title of honor.”

Ask yourself a few questions:

  • Are there names I like?
  • What do those names mean? (There are many websites that can help you understand the meanings of names.  Just ask Google to help!)
  • Is there a name that describes how I feel about this child?
  • Do I want to name my child after a special person?

If you are interested in memorializing your child, search your heart for how this precious one changed you or others because of his/her life.  What marked your pregnancy? How did the delivery of this child impact your family?  If you’re struggling with the answers, ask a trusted friend or family member to talk about these questions – your answers may reveal themselves as you share your feelings openly.

As you journey, be open to discovering the purpose of your child’s precious life.  Believe there is one!  That’s where legacy comes in.  Once you understand the power of a living legacy, you have the privilege of protecting, loving, and nurturing the life purpose for your dear little one. You can provide the ongoing dignity that will help you remember this life was sacred and worthy.  This is where your joy will be restored.

Thank you for visiting my website and for trusting me with your tender heart.
